The boys put a Gumtree Special to the test as Travis from Ali-Craft attempts a huge lift from 400m including a 5kg weight due to the massive current.
It’s a double header, including a pretty unique fish but it’s a looong way up when the reel is more Homer Simpson than it is Kieran Perkins.
The Radiant Cod can live 15 years or more and mostly reaches a size of around 80cm.
It’s very possible that they can grow larger when food sources and conditions are favourable, particularly in the North West.
Although juveniles are found in 20m of water, adults are most likely to be in water 250m to 400m of depth.
It’s hard to observe them at those depths but the ground they favour seems to be rocky regions, particularly those with good coral systems.
