To find these fish, which are usually way more powerful than a Narrow Barred Spanish, look for current running between islands and fish the sides and middle of the current movement.
Narrow Barred and Broad Barred Spanish mackerel look very similar when small but can be easily identified by the anal and second dorsal fins of the species.
Narrow barred have much smaller anal and second dorsal fins and predominant dark tiger stripes down the flanks.
A broadbar has an unusually large second dorsal and anal fins, with no dark prominent striping present.
